Things People Say

"Uncut sounded like they might make [the venue] collapse under the weight of the band's sheer volume." - CMJ
"Husker New, anyone? Canadian foursome Uncut have a similarly fine way with brittle belligerence ("Let's just kill all the living" opines opener 'Darkhorse'), labyrinthe melodies (see the epic 'Out of Sight') and artfully fractious strums (particularly 'Chainfight'), making this a minor post-hardcore masterclass." - Rocksound Magazine
"Their driving, propulsive, rock-solid tunes have always impressed me, but with the release of this song on their new album "Modern Currencies", the band has exploded, coming up with what might be a late contender for the best-of lists of 2006." - CBC Radio 3
"Surely this is the record that will finally elevate Uncut to the level of notoriety enjoyed by some of its lesser Toronto indie-rock compatriots." - Toronto Star
"[Modern Currencies] sonically kicks down the door of rock." - Advance Copy
"New Cities is one the most intense tracks to come out of Canada this year." - Chart Attack
"These perennially underappreciated local noisemakers from Paper Bag Records are, for my money, the country's best guitar-upon-guitar band. A fierce live act when they're firing, too." - Toronto Star
"Their songs just keep expanding with such sonic intensity that with each successive listen they rise to unimaginable minacious heights. " - Caught in the Carousel
"This group acts as if it’s all simple but I dare say that you can’t produce something this extraordinary without paying a hell of a lot of attention." - Smother.net
"No sophomore slump with this gem of an album." - PopMatters
"Uncut has evolved into a force to be reckoned with." - SceneandHeard.ca
"I can honestly say, hand on heart, that Uncut now seems to shine beyond many of the classic alternative rock musicians they list as influence." - Milk Milk Lemonade
"...you kind of get the feeling that Uncut could explode into a million pieces of musical chaos... somehow they don't and they manage to have enough pop sense to actually write tunes around all this insanity that are catchy, memorable, and very good." - Pacific Coast News
"Epic, disjointed alt. rock with driving guitars, Bright Eyes-edgy vocals and some fine beat mash downs -- all delivered with a post-hardcore edge that makes it stand out wondrously amongst the melee! Great stuff ..." - Subba Cultcha
"Every wannabe rocker who took a side alley left of the dial just to avoid Nickelback Drive and Metallica Terrace, has wished they could be in a band as cool as Uncut." - antiMUSIC.com
"Modern Currencies is one the most inventive and creative albums of the year." - Amplifier Magazine
